Historically, the Muslim community of Surrey has primarily resided near the county's main commercial centres, with a notable concentration in North West Surrey. This area is in proximity to larger Muslim populations in neighbouring towns such as Kingston, Hounslow, Southall and extends towards London. Woking, in particular, is home to Britain's oldest mosque and has traditionally served as the primary location for bi-annual Eid prayer celebrations in the region. However, Surrey-based Muslims often face challenges in observing religious rites such as Friday prayers or Ramadan festivities, as they typically require considerable travel to attend a mosque. Moreover, daily prayer gatherings can also be challenging, thus obliging worshippers to congregate informally in private homes.
