Founded in 1974, the Islamic Centre Edgware (ICE) holds a significant role in the local Muslim community of Edgware and surrounding regions. We are a registered charity [Charity Registration Number: 270 823] committed to meeting both the spiritual and welfare needs of our local Islamic community within and around Edgware. Our inaugural facility located in Beverley Drive, Queensbury, acquired in 1988, served as a distinctive location for offerings of the five daily prayers and Quranic teachings for children. However, due to the domestic nature of the premises, it failed to get necessary approval from Brent Council for conversion, resulting in its closure by 2000. Despite this setback, ICE's service remained consistently steadfast as we continued to hold the Friday and Eid prayers at the Watling Community Centre on Orange Hill Road, Edgware, for over two decades. The limited usage of the Beverley Drive property called for an immediate search for a suitable location for a new centre. With rigorous effort and commitment from Trustees and volunteers, we gathered substantial funds. In 2007, we successfully purchased a former motorcycle workshop on Deansbrook Road in Edgware. Following this, we promptly commenced an application to construct a purpose-driven facility for the community. This involved tearing down the old structures to construct a comprehensive two-storey Islamic Centre Edgware, catering to both genders. Owing to unwavering discussions with the London Borough of Barnet, we were accorded planning permission in 2012 with support from local Councillors. We straightaway initiated construction and were thrilled to inaugurate the new Centre by 25th March 2016. We extend our deepest gratitude to the officials for their patience, counsel and support throughout the construction process. We also take this moment to express our heartfelt thanks to those who have generously invested their monetary support and time contributions for this significant project over these past four decades. We pray that Allah blesses them abundantly for their unwavering service to the community. The founders of ICE and their tireless efforts have undoubtedly been pivotal in shaping the Centre’s present structure. We pray that each prayer offered here echoes their legacy of benevolent deeds.
