Established in 1976, the MICB network first took root when a local community procured a piece of property formerly in use as a church, fulfilling the escalating requirements of the growing Muslim demography within the region. The architectural design of the edifice – heavily influenced by its early role as a place of worship, prompted a sequence of profound refurbishments and alterations to both its interior and exterior. These were deemed necessary to mould it into a mosque, but with the original structure carefully conserved. Major transformations materialised circa 2005, encompassing revisions to the spire, its conversion into a minaret crowned by lush domes, coupled with notable restoration undertakings within the premises. Upon the fulfilment of these widespread refurbishments, a stately inauguration ceremony was orchestrated to honour the mosque's novel appearance. The prestige of initiating the refurbished building was bestowed upon the highly respected Lord Nazir Ahmed from Rotherham.
