The MEC Foundation UK operates the Turkish Community Association and Kotku Mosque in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK. The charity's main activity is to promote education and provide leisure facilities. It also holds additional events to encourage and support the Muslim faith. The Kotku Mosque, where daily and Friday prayers are held, is part of the charity. The association building provides accommodation for PhD students. The charity runs a weekend school offering classes in Turkish, Religion and Ethics, Robotic coding, Visual Arts, and Life skills. Scouting training is also provided to children throughout the year. Quran and Tajvid classes are given by the Imam of Kotku Mosque for children, youth, and adults. Turkish and English lessons and speaking clubs are organized for adults. The charity hosts open days and events at different times of the year, such as the Iftar organization for 150 people that continues throughout the month of Ramadan.
