The Heaton Mosque & Islamic Centre

The Church of England Parish of East Greenwich manages the Multifaith Prayer Space and Community Room, intended to serve the local community through the provision of spaces for religious worship and communal development. Greenwich Peninsula has been home to a multifaith chaplaincy since 2003, initially offering chaplaincy services to the O2 construction site and local workplaces. By 2010, a temporary Prayer Space was established in a portacabin near the O2, which was later relocated beside the Emirates cable car in 2013. Open to all faith groups for worship and prayer, the Prayer Space is also available daily for drop-in prayer, staffed by a team of multifaith chaplains. The Community Room welcomes individuals from all faiths or none, offering space for activities and events that foster local community growth. The provision of the Prayer Space and Community Room has been possible due to the Knight Dragon's obligations under section 106 agreement for the Greenwich Peninsula development. The spaces are licensed to the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of the Parish of East Greenwich, who are responsible for operations. A recurrent advisory Forum invites all faith groups and interested parties for discussions, enabling them to raise queries, provide feedback, and hold the PCC accountable for ensuring equal and fair access.
