AbuBakr Mosque commenced its journey from a modest establishment in Villiers Road. However, due to constraints around planning permission, the Villiers Road base was vacated and the trustees began to explore alternate venues of larger proportions in response to increasing demand. The Southall Town Hall building subsequently entered the property market and the AbuBakr mosque trustees successfully placed their bid on it. Regrettably, pressures from other local communities and the neighbouring Hindu temple led the Ealing council to reject the conclusion of the property deal, eventually withdrawing their proposal entirely. After considerable effort in searching, the trustees finally managed to procure West End House on Southall Broadway. Planning approval was granted for the establishment of the AbuBakr Mosque in June 1999. Since then, West End House — formerly an office space — has undergone considerable renovation and expansion works over the years to fulfil its transformed role as a mosque cum educational institution.
